While scrolling through Pinterest, I saw this quote.
Seeing the words "flowers" and "rain
reminded me of a picture I took in London of a black flower with some white flowers.
I combined the two to create this.
Design Rationale
This was created in Illustrator.
The first image is my photograph in London in Queen Mary's Rose Garden. I thought the black flower being pushed out of the way of white flowers was intriguing. I used this as the background image.
I then created flower and petal shapes by hand to peek through the image. The black flower has a fully formed and blossoming flower, while the white flower is supposed to wilt, and the petals fall down.
I wanted the petals falling to mimic rain, as the quote says.
I used a halftone effect on the typography to give it a printed feel. I also chose serif and script fonts. The script fonts emphasized the parts of the quote that related to the background image.
