Inspired by the Studio Ghibli film Howl's Moving Castle.
This was a request from a friend after she saw my Princess Mononoke poster.
I added in textures and displacement maps to give it a scanned/printed feel.
What is this movie about?
This movie follows Sophie as she deals with self-discovery, love, relationships, and the effects of war. She is challenged to be compassionate and kind. It also shows the challenges of societal expectations.
Design Rationale
The movie is known for a scene with a bright blue sky, so I went with a bright, teal color for the color overlay.
I chose iconic scenes and characters from the film throughout the poster. As well as quotes from the movie.
I wrote the name of the movie in Japanese.
The fourth image contains various graphic elements, but they are purposeful.
The globe represents connection. The icon underneath it represents time travel (it's in the movie). The castle is an image underneath, and I chose one where it is in motion. Under that,  waves represent Howl and Sophie's interconnected relationship. Underneath are two straight bars that represent how they are also individuals.
I diagonally wrote starlight to represent a falling star with star shapes surrounding it.
