Concept
I visited Bok Tower Gardens in August 2024 and photographed it with my Nikon ZFC.
The images inspired me to try my hand at editorial-style graphic design.
I paired it with text found on the Bok Tower Gardens' website and Wikipedia.
Challenges
Despite the busy background, I needed to find a way to make the text stand out on the magazine cover. I overlaid a black rectangle over the image to lower the contrast, and I also used bold, thick fonts.
I wanted to create interesting layouts. I focused on typography (Bok Tower and the Gardens) to bring attention to two of the spreads. I then opted for an image that spans both pages to add interest for the third spread (koi fish).
